It's torture time... oh yeah!

Hello Folks! I'm here today with Tara Finnegan and her hot new addition to the Corbin's Bend series.
Before we get into the looks and hooks of this wildly tantalizing story I thought you might enjoy my 'Tara interrogation'.

Melody- Did you have a favorite book while growing up, if so what is it and why?

Tara- Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen. I was given a beautifully bound copy of it for my thirteenth birthday and I loved everything about it, from the smell of the leather, the fantastic illustrations and of course the fabulous love story. I thought Elizabeth was a wonderful character, so human! Women were so restricted in those days, and yet she seemed to find a way to enrich her restricted life with wit and spirit, while doing so within the constraints of the societal norms. I loved her.

Melody- Pride and Prejudice, a timeless classic and endearing story. Who could not love Elizabeth?
Where is your favorite place to write?

Tara- My kitchen table, which is generally a mess of paper when I write. I like the space, and the sense of not being trapped. I do have a home office, but I do my day job from there so I like the change.

Melody— My kitchen table is barely visible most of the time. Once upon a time it was used to eat at, but then those 3 cute kids who used to hang out at our house grew up and moved out.

What is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you about being a writer?

Tara- That’s a really good question. I have had some wonderful advice from lots of different people, but I think the advice I try to use most is CUT! CUT! CUT! as I can be very verbose and say the same thing over and over.

Melody- I know exactly what you mean about being verbose. I have the same tendency. I put post-it notes all over my desk that say "Less is More".
Do you use an outline or are you a panster?

Tara- I tend to start with an outline, - not chapter by chapter, but what things I want to happen. Then after about chapter two or three, if the characters decide to come to life, more often than not, I usually find I come to the same end point via a very meandering diversion.

Melody-  I love it when the characters start coming to life and take over the story.  It's always fun to see where they take me and what I'll learn about them.
Do you do anything special for yourself after you finish a book?

Tara- Not really, but I do like to spend a bit of extra time with the family for a few days because usually those last days of finalizing it can be a bit mental.

Melody- A bit mental? I think that's putting it mildly. I'm still missing chunks of hair from my last release LOL.
Hey Melody... I wanna' ask Tara a question. Please, oh please, oh pretty, pretty please?
Is it the sock question again Annoying yellow inner-voice?
No, no... you'll like this one, Mel, I swear!
Fine! ask away.
When having lunch  at Olive Garden with Melody you can expect her to…
A-    Strike up a long winded and meaningless conversation with the server
B-    Constantly keep telling you she thinks her shoe is untied even though she’s wearing sandals
C-    Keep asking for more soup, salad and bread-sticks.

Tara-  I can’t help feel but the correct answer is probably all three, but I will go for A!

Melody- Thanks, Tara. The answer is actually all three.
This is your second book with the Corbin’s Bend series, what has it been like writing a series with other authors?

Tara- I loved it. I love the sense of community. There was an incredible buzz with it, especially as it started to take off in the early days. I also love having other peoples characters to call on, and trying to weave some of them into my story. One of the things I found amazing about Corbin’s Bend was that for some reason, I guess by virtue of the fact that it was already defined as a spanking community, there was a lot of freedom to tackle issues that you wouldn’t normally associate with spanking romance.

Melody- I remember the early buzz about Corbin's Bend. I was so intrigued because I noticed a few different authors talking... well, more like teasing about this hot new spanking community. The idea for Corbin's Bend is as brilliant as it's many authors. I seriously see this becoming a TV series someday.
Do you have a teasing excerpt for us from the newest Corbin's Bend- 'His Forever Summer' ?

Tara- Thanks, Melody. I do indeed have an excerpt to share.

“Bedroom, now. And that’s an order.” He could get to like this being in charge caper, he thought as Carla scuttled off.

Carla was stripping her clothes as fast as she could. He stood appreciating the sight. He liked that her bottom was still a nice rich pink, although much faded already. He idly mused on the lack of guilt he had about it now, compared to that first time.

“It’s torture time, babe. Lie on your back, spread-eagled,” he warned, giving her an evil smile. He fished in her underwear drawer to find some pantyhose or something stretchy to tie her with. He had an idea they might stretch to the four corners of the bed.
“Bingo, it works, although your pantyhose will never be useable again. It was time you switched to stockings and a garter belt anyway. They’re much sexier.”

“You never cease to amaze me, Kieran O’Brien. And here I was thinking you were such a prude for so long.”

“Ah, just because I hadn’t discovered the joys of spanking, doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like a bit of hot, naughty sex. Let me see, a blindfold I think. Remember, call Methon if I’m making you uncomfortable.”

“I’m good so far. There are scarves in the third or fourth drawer.”

“I need to go to the kitchen for a moment, do you want me to untie you, or are you okay?”

“It’s fine. I could get out of these if I had to. It’s hot to think of you leaving me lying here like this. Blindfold me before you go.”

He found couple of scarves, folded one over and tied it around her head. Another silk scarf he set aside for other uses. Her breathing was labored. Arousal was shimmering off her like a halo. Her face and neck were flushed. She looked so hot. And he had just the thing to cool her down. He ran to the kitchen, got ice from the freezer and clothes pegs from the laundry hamper. The fun was about to begin. When he returned, he started out by doing a survey of her body.

“Someone’s a dirty slut. I see a pink face, hard nipples and a very wet pussy. You’re enjoying this too much. I had better cool you down.” He had the pleasure of seeing Carla fight her restraints and buck her hips. He put an ice cube in his mouth and then put his mouth around one erect nipple. Already peaked and sensitive, the ice made it much harder. She really had the most beautiful tits – all nipple. So much fun to play with. He moved to the other bud. When they were both hard and attentive, he crunched and swallowed the ice. Then he took the silk scarf and trailed it along her breasts. The soft, warm fibre gently teasing, urged a whimper from her mouth. Next, he took a clothespeg, rolled one nipple between his finger and thumb and attached the peg.

“Ouch,” Carla protested.

Melody-  Oh, Tara! A woman after my own heart. I love bondage scenes. I like how he ties her up, blindfolds and leaves her for a bit, only to come back and find her soaked with arousal. Funny what anticipation can do for us girls. The ice is an awesome touch in preparation for the clothespegs, although, I feel sorry for her when they come off.

Blurb:  Carla Methon has tread on a lot of toes, men’s and women’s alike. But no one could be more dissatisfied with Carla than the lady herself. With a compunction to throw herself at every man within a three mile radius and a serious case of foot in mouth disease, Carla knows she is in desperate need of being taken in hand before she does any more damage to her reputation.

Kieran O’Brien needs to escape a broken relationship and he invites himself to spend a summer with his brother in Corbin’s Bend. But Kieran is a totally unsuspecting vanilla with no idea of the ethos of the community he is about to enter.

The pair strike up an unlikely friendship of vanilla and spice, with one stipulation – it is only a summer fling. By the time Kieran boards his flight to return to Ireland he wishes his summer could last forever. Can he find the courage, not only to admit the extent of his feelings, but to take on the role Carla so desperately needs him to be?

Melody- Foot in mouth disease... Ha-ha-ha! that's funny. I love it.
So, what’s in the works for future books?

Tara- I actually can’t answer that, not because it’s a big secret or anything, but because this time of year, my day job takes up all my energy and I haven’t really started to think about the next project yet. I will start to think about that sometime mid to late November.

    1. My pleasure, Tara. I enjoyed learning more about you and just having fun. And the excerpt... I love bondage ☺. Very good scene.
I should have changed the cursor. I meant to actually and forgot. Sorry. It was going to say 'thanks for visiting'. I will fix it now ;)

    2. I kinda like the odd bit of bondage in my reading material too, Melody! Thanks again. And I thought the boo was kinda cool, but now that I see thanks for visiting, I am smitten. I'm not sure if dancing around the maypole is something you are familiar with in the US but now when the letters follow me around, it looks like a maypole ribbon, or indeed a gymnast's ribbon. You have to tell me how you do that!

  2. A TV series! OMG - How cool would that be. Love this series, love the interview and love hearing how everyone does things and goes mental just like me. :)

Melody, seriously, the boo is creeping me out a little! It's circling...
